Mariners supports VACC Cam Sur in honoring PNP-Naga in drive against illegal gambling


Naga City — The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) headed by Founding President and Chairman Dante La. Jimenez, President of Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) in Camarines Sur has given recognition to the men and women of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Naga City for apprehending individuals involved in illegal gambling.

For and in behalf of VACC, Camarines Sur Provincial Coordinator Napoleon Mangente represented the organization in the awards rites held at the PNP City Headquarters in fitting ceremonies during the Monday Flag ceremony on January 12, 2015.

Among those who attended the events are members of the VACC Provincial Secretariat which included Dante Florendo, Amy Lanuzo, Dr. Edgar Despi and Mariners System’s Corporate Public Affairs Officer Elmer Abad, who delivered the message for and in behalf of VACC Founding Chairman Dante Jimenez.

The group helped in facilitating the giving of the Certificates of Recognition to the 22 policemen who participated in the successful raid of the illegal gambling den in Brgy. Dayangdang, this City.

As per report from the City Police, the illegal activity is said to be controlled by some local barangay officials. It arrested 27 suspects who allegely served as maintainers and supervisors as well as bet collectors. The authorities also recovered bet money amounting to Php 5,233.25 and Jueteng paraphernalia.

The suspects who were captured in the raid were charged for violating PD 1602 as amended by RA 9287. They are detained at the Naga City police Headquarters while some of them were released after posting bail bonds.

The certificates gave citation to the Police Officers, recognizing their exemplary performance in line of duty.
